KARACHI, Nov 28: City Nazim Niamatullah Khan has said that the zoos and Safari Park in the city would gain more attraction with the addition of more animals and improvement in the overall environment at these recreational spots.

He was speaking as chief guest at the foundation-stone laying ceremony of an aquarium and inauguration of a fountain at the Landhi Zoo. Mr Khan said that the arrival of new animals in the Landhi Zoo and the new aquarium were a part of the city government's priority programmes under which recreational facilities were being provided equally to all parts of the city.

He pointed out that once only 50-60 people had been visiting the Safari Park in a day but now, with the provision of better facilities, the number had risen to thousands.

Similarly, he added, the Karachi Zoological Garden had lost its attraction till a few years back but now it had earned a contract of Rs10 million because some 100 new animals had been brought to the zoo and its environment had also been improved. -APP
