BAHAWALPUR, Nov 25: Additional District and Sessions Judge Razziq Nawaz on Thursday extended for the second time the interim bail before arrest of 15 PML-N activists to Dec 4.

District president Chaudhry Mumtaz Ahmad Jajja, ex-MNA Aqeelur Rehman, two MPAs Mohtarma Parveen Masood Bhatti, Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar and former Punjab parliamentary secretary and PML vice-president Samiullah Chaudhry were among them. Their applications for confirmation of the pre-arrest bail were adjourned due to the absence of Mr Aqeel who had not yet returned after performing Umra.

A case under 16-MPO was registered against them along with about 200 participants of a protest meeting which they had organized at the residence of MPA Malik Iqbal Channar on Oct 12, 2004 to observe black day against the ouster of Nawaz Sharif on Oct 12, 1999.

EXECUTION DELAYED: The execution of four condemned prisoners - Aqeel, Nazim, Mushtaq and Amin - was postponed here on Thursday. The hanging of Aqeel and Nazim was deferred on the orders of courts while that of Mushtaq and Amin was postponed on the orders of the president. They were to be executed within the next two days at the central jail. Meanwhile, convict Rehmatullah will be hanged on Nov 30 at the local jail.

CONCERT: Radio Pakistan, Bahawalpur on Thursday arranged a musical concert at its studio where singers Nida Faiz of Lahore, Kanwal Shireen and Shazia Talib entertained the audience for about two hours. Station Director Dr. Nasrullah Khan Nasir said noted singer Asad Amanat Ali would also be invited for another concert.
