ISLAMABAD, Nov 24: An India shuttle team comprising 19 members is due to arrive in Islamabad on Thursday for the Pakistan Asian Satellite International Tournament beginning here on Friday.

The Indian party will first land in Lahore from where they will take a connecting flight to Islamabad. The Satellite tournament is the biggest ever badminton event in Pakistan and carries a prize purse of $9,000.

About 62 players and officials from six countries including Japan, Iran, Nepal, Indonesia besides Pakistan and India are taking part in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Iranian and Japanese players trained at the Liaquat Gymnasium on Wednesday evening where the actual competitions will take place. The tournament continues through to Nov 30 when a colourful closing ceremony will mark the end of the show.
