KARACHI, Nov 24: The City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, on Wednesday presided over a meeting convened to review progress with regard to linking of the city government's Web Based Birth and Death Information System to that of the National Database and Registration Authority.

The Director General, NADRA, Brig Tariq Moeen Nawaz and city government officials attended the meeting.

Nadra officials informed the meeting that it had started the computerization of data of death and birth records throughout the country to discourage the trend of registration of names of children at more than one place by parents.

According to the project, there would be a centralized database of deaths and births, which could be accessed from any part of the country.

The city government officials also briefed the Nadra delegation about the Web Based Birth and Death Information System, and said that all record in this respect was being computerized. Moreover, all 18 towns of Karachi were being linked to the central computerized control room of the city government. - PPI
