KARACHI, Nov. 23: The Sindh government on Tuesday granted permission to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal to hold a public meeting here on Nov 28.

Earlier, provincial MMA leaders Allama Hasan Turabi, Hafiz Mohammad Taqi, Sheikh Rafique Ahmed, Maulana Khan Mohammad Rabbani, Mohammad Hussain Mehanti and Nasrullah Shajee called on the home secretary and assured him that the alliance believed in democratic and peaceful struggle and said that holding a meeting was their constitutional and democratic right.

After getting the permission, the office-bearers of the Sindh MMA visited the Nishtar Park and reviewed arrangements for the meeting. On Monday, the local MMA leadership had sought permission from the alliance's supreme council to give a call for a strike in Karachi on Nov 27 if the permission was not granted. -PPI
