Govt's actions criticized

QUETTA, Nov 23: The Anjuman Ittehad Marri has said that registration of false cases against Baloch nationalist leader Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri and his sons is repetition of the old game.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the spokesman for the Marri Ittehad alleged that the government was not sincere in giving national rights to Balochs and resolve the political issues through peaceful means.

The statement asserted that the government's offer for negotiation was aimed at silencing oppressed Balochs and maintained that rulers in the past also had betrayed the Baloch leaders.

The spokesman accused the Inter-Services Intelligence and other federal agencies of planning to register false cases against Nawab Marri and his sons, adding that Nawab's sons were living in exile but they were being implicated in so-called blast cases.

The statement claimed that there was no dispute between Bijranis and Gazanis of the Marri tribe but real conflict was between Baloch and the state over the resources and denial of grant of their national rights. The spokesman said that Nawab Marri was clear in his political outlook that the resources of Balochistan were joint property of the whole Baloch community.

However, the 'plunders' were reluctant to accept this reality. The statement reminded those Baloch groups engaged in talks with the government to keep in mind the past experience of the government moves saying that if the rulers were sincere then they would have stopped work at Gwadar seaport and released detained political activists.
