KARACHI, Nov 22: While the transfer of enrolment of students of the Dow Medical College and the Sindh Medical College from the Karachi University is still in pending , the Dow University of Health Science has invited examination forms from students of the first prof MBBS (Part-A).

A notification of the DUHS issued on Monday said that examination forms and fee of first prof (Part-A) annual examination-2005 will be accepted up to December 3 in the respective colleges, without late fee. The examination fee has been fixed as Rs1, 500.

Students can get the examination entry forms from their respective colleges, the DMC and the SMC, free of cost. A late fee of Rs500 will be charged after expiry of the due date up to one week before the commencement of the examination, added the notification.

The students are required to attach photocopies of their enrolment cards, intermediate marks certificates, three recent photographs and original marks certificate of the previous attempt or attempts (for repeaters).

A senior DUHS official said that the university would be conducting any professional examination for the first time and a fresh enrolment of the students in question had already been completed.

About the programme of examination, the DUHS notification said that it would be announced later. Commenting on the development, a KU official said that it was gross violation of the university rules and the DUHS should at least have fulfilled the required formalities. The fresh execution of enrolment to students of last year was a case of dual enrolment, which was not allowed under the rules, he pointed out.

In the meantime, referring to the ongoing row between the KU and DUHS over the issue of en-bloc transfer of enrolment of about 3,000 students of the DMC and SMC, the nazim of Islami Jamiat Talaba, said that the enrolment of students should not be transferred from KU till the time DUHS got recognition from international medical institutions.

NEW COLLEGES: The DO colleges, Prof Muhammad Asghar Khan, said that teaching of first year students at the two new colleges commenced on Monday. He said that after provision of furniture, which was acquired from other colleges, and teachers, the teaching began at the Gulistan-i-Jauher Girls College (Block-13) and Gulshan-i-Iqbal Boys College, near Shaikh Zayed institute.
