US troops leave Jacobabad today

SUKKUR, Nov 19: The last batch of US troops is leaving the Shahbaz airbase in Jacobabad on Saturday. They will be leaving behind their luggage and used goods for auction. The final bidding of the articles is estimated to be around a million dollars.

The US troops were stationed in Jacobabad for providing logistic and intelligence support to the US war efforts in Afghanistan. In August and September this year, the number of troops at the base was reduced to half and now the Americans are leaving at permanently.

However, contacted, a senior air force official said on condition of anonymity, that the troops were not leaving forever and that some sensitive instruments would be left behind to collect important data from here.
