PESHAWAR, Nov 19: The district government is taking keen interest in protecting children's rights and discouraging child labour, says Nazim Azam Afridi.

A statement issued after the signing of a memorandum of child's rights here on Friday quoted him as saying that parents, teachers and other members of the society should take extra care in upbringing children.

He urged all sections of the society to take practical steps to ban child labour and urged them to educate their children to make them good citizens. He said that the society should respect children's rights and solve their problems and grievances with great care and patience.

He said that the government was trying to reduce poverty and give alternative means of earning to the poor who send their children to work in private organizations.

WORKSHOP: A workshop on 'Awareness creation amongst district government functionaries,' would be held under the auspices of the Anti-Narcotics Force on Nov 23-24. -APP
