KARACHI, Nov 12: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui has said that in the light of a federal government decision , recommendation has been made to the chief minister for a three-month remission in the jail term of prisoners on the occasion of Eidul Fitr.

He was speaking at a ceremony held here on Thursday evening for the inauguration of a family park developed under private-public partnership for the staff of the Central Jail Karachi.

IG Prisons Brig M. A. H. Ayaz Mufti, Jail Superintendent M. Ashraf Ali Nizamani, Deputy Superintendents Amanullah Khan Niazi and Nazim Ahmed Kazi also spoke on the occasion.

The minister appreciated the efforts of the IG and other senior jail staff who took personal interest in the construction of the park. He also expressed his satisfaction over the performance of the jail administration in relation to introducing reformative measures for the prisoners.

The minister appealed to philanthropists to supplement the government's efforts in the construction of new barracks in jails. He said the authorities were also faced with transport problem.

He announced that the system of all jails in Sindh would be computerized. He also announced upgrading of a primary school for the children of jail employees to secondary level, and directed the IG to complete necessary formalities in this regard. -APP
