QUETTA, Nov 5: Delegations of the four-party Baloch alliance, Pukhtunhawa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Friday met members of the parliamentary sub-committee on Balochistan issues and presented their points of view.

The Baloch alliance led by Dr Hayee Baloch welcomed the formation of the committee to resolve the problems being faced by the province. Dr Hayee Baloch presented an 8-point draft of demands to the sub committee.

It demanded that work on Gwadar mega projects should be stopped until a Gwadar master plan was not provided and nationalist parties were not informed about the political, economic, administrative and demographic impact and a financial decision regarding its future was not taken.

All appointments to the Gwadar mega projects and the port should be postponed and the decision regarding establishing cantonments in Balochistan and all allotments of land in Gwadar should be cancelled.

The Baloch alliance also demanded that all the cases filed against political leaders and workers should be withdrawn and the arrested people be released without any delay. It also demanded registration of cases against the officials involved in extra-judicial killings in the province.

It also demanded that military operation should be stopped in Balochistan and return of all forces from interior of Balochistan should be ensured and Gwadar be freed from the siege of security forces. It was also against the registration of fishermen in Gwadar.

The government should put a ban on the exploration of oil and gas in the sensitive areas of the province. These parties also demanded that the local certificate, national identity cards, passports, property ownership papers to Afghan refugees and their enrolment in the voters list should be cancelled and they, who introduced Kalashnikov, heroin and sectarian terrorism in society, should be sent to their country. It also demanded that the ordinance issued in 1960 regarding declaration of Hazaras of Afghanistan and some other tribes local should also be cancelled.

The delegation consisted of Dr Hayee Baloch, Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, Kachkol Ali Baloch (NP), Habib Jalib Baloch, Sajid Tareen (BNP-M), Mir Humayun Khan Marri, Mir Jumma Khan Bugti and Agha Shahid Hussain Bugti (JWP).

The team of the Pukhtunkhawa Milli Awami Party headed by its deputy chairman Abdul Rahim Mandokhel apprised the committee of its point of view. Later, Rahim Mandokhel said: "We have apprised the committee about the problems being faced by Pukhtuns in the province.

Speaking to newsmen, committee head Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed termed the Quetta visit very fruitful and positive and said the committee would prepare its report in view of the points presented by the nationalist and other parties.
