PESHAWAR, Oct 29: Police did not allow activists of Hizbul Tehrir, a proscribed religious organization, to hold a protest demonstration against the US here on Friday.

The activists of the organization assembled outside the Nosho Baba mosque on the G. T. Road to stage a protest demonstration against the US aggression in Iraq. As the workers started chanting slogans, a contingent of police resorted to light baton-charge and dispersed them. No arrest was made.

Later, Senior Superintendent Police Abid Ali told newsmen that the government had banned the organization under the anti-terrorism law. Therefore, its workers were not allowed to hold demonstration or any other activities in the district.
