MITHI, Oct 22: The additional district food controller of Tharparkar and a food inspector, who had been suspended by the Sindh chief minister on Oct 7 following alleged embezzlement of 40,000 wheat bags, are still performing their duties as no notification has been issued in this regard.
It was reliably learnt here on Friday that the Sindh government had provided 70,000 wheat bags to the district to be supplied to chakkis through the food department. However, members of the district council and the nazim complained to the chief minister and the chief secretary that 40,000 wheat bags had been embezzled by officials of the food department in connivance with chakki owners.
Taking notice of the complaints, the chief minister suspended additional district food controller Qazi Mohammad Bux Qureshi and food inspector Karimdad Junejo. It was learnt that the food secretary would arrive here on Saturday to conduct an inquiry into the wheat embezzlement.
SCHOLARSHIP: A group of students of the Thar Higher Secondary School, Naokot, have expressed their resentment over non-payment of MORA scholarships, sanctioned a couple of months back by relevant authorities, to students.
Allah Nawaz, Mohibullah, Rab Dino and other students said 30 students had been selected for the scholarship but the amount was yet to be paid to them. They demanded that authorities concerned should ensure early payment of the scholarship to the students.
