Sherpao criticizes MMA leadership

PESHAWAR, Oct 10: Federal Minister for Interior Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has urged the party workers to focus on the problems confronting the people so that the party (PPP) could emerge as victorious in next general elections.

He was addressing the workers gathered in connection with the party joining of Nehayat Khan, ex-nazim Dosehera Union Council District Charsadda, along with some union councilors and scores of supporters here at his residence on Sunday.

Mr Sherpao said that the middle class and the poor masses have high expectations from his party and that's why they elected PPP candidates in large number in NWFP and rejected a particular party in the elections of 2002 which ignored the problem of the masses during their tenure of power.

Mr Sherpao also criticized the MMA leadership for its failure to solve the problem of the common man. He repudiated the impression that PPP's success in the past elections was due to the support of MMA. He said it was rather PPP support which culminated in the victory of MMA candidates in Nowshera and some other districts.

He while highlighting the priorities of federal government said that greater emphasis is given on provision of utility services and development of social infrastructure in the rural areas.

He said in district Charsadda Rs140 million had been spent on projects in the electricity sector. Member NWFP assembly, Sikander Sherpao and a number of office bearers of PPP, also spoke on the occasion. -APP
