ISLAMABAD, Oct 7: President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz met here on Thursday and discussed matters of national importance, including the security situation in the country, it was announced officially.

They exchanged views on regional and international issues. The president informed the prime minister about his recent visit to the United States, the Netherlands and Italy and expressed the hope that his interaction with leaders of these countries would help promote Pakistan's political and economic relationship.

He also informed the prime minister about his meetings with world leaders in New York.
