LAHORE, Oct 7: Punjab PML information secretary Senator Kamil Ali Agha has refuted the allegations levelled by the Tehrik-i-Istiqlal president against the Chaudhrys of Gujrat.

In a press statement on Thursday, he said a person who had made untiring and unstinted efforts for the present system could hardly be accused of conspiring against it. He said the way Chaudhry Shujaat and Pervaiz Elahi had organized election campaign for Shaukat Aziz was also on record.

The former had also played a role for smooth transfer of power from Zafarullah Jamali to Shaukat Aziz and also got vacated seat of his niece for him to win the election, Agha recalled.

He said Mr Shujaat had been issuing instructions for running business in the Senate and National Assembly smoothly. He regretted that whenever the democratic system started taking roots, self-motivated elements started hatching conspiracies against it in search of back doors to sneak into the corridors of power.

DEMO: The Labour Party will hold a protest demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club on Friday to protest occupation of a mission high school hostel in Kasur by land grabbers.

The party has urged the government to investigate the incident for curbing injustice to minorities. Meanwhile, secretary general Farooq Tariq and others have condemned the PTCL management for declaring strike of workers as a sabotage act. They said the workers were exercising their democratic right and the management should accept their demands instead of propagating against them.

STRATEGY: National Democratic Front leaders Asghar Khan, Elahi Bakhsh Soomro, Sajjad Ali Shah, Wazir Ahmad Jogezai and others are reaching here on Friday to discuss various political, economic and constitutional affairs. They will devise a strategy to solve price-hike, unemployment and other problems of the masses.
