LAHORE, Oct 6: Punjab PML Secretary General Chaudhry Zaheeruddin says the ruling party has prepared a strategy to counter opposition's planned movement against President Musharraf's uniform.

According to a press release, he said while talking to various delegations at his residence on Wednesday that resolutions passed by the Punjab and Sindh assemblies and a number of district governments were reflective of people's aspirations.

He said the movement planned by the MMA and the ARD lacked popular support. The PML leader, who is also minister for communications and works, said the country's situation demanded that Gen Musharraf should stay both as president and army chief.

He was of the view that opposition was disunited, having divergent views on policy matters. The minister said the ruling party was monitoring the situation and its workers would not keep silent if the opposition violated the law of the land. "Paper tigers will not be allowed to mislead the people," he said of the opposition parties.

PPP MEETING: The provincial information secretaries of the PPP, central media coordinator and heads of the regional media offices will meet in Islamabad on Oct 14 to discuss the situation in the country and prepare an effective policy to project the party's point of view.

According to Punjab Information-Secretary Naveed Chaudhry, Senators Raza Rabbani and Farhatullah Babar and Central Information-Secretary Taj Haider and Deputy Information-Secretary Altaf Qureshi have been extended special invitation for participation.
