Army gymnasts in lead

LAHORE, Oct 27: The defending champions, Pakistan Army with 28.20 points is leading in the 37th National Gymnastic Championship on its first day at the Government College, Sports Hall Saturday.

With the exception of Balochistan, all the other seven units of the Pakistan Gymnastic Federation are taking part in the championship.

Last year runners-up Wapda were chasing Army closely with a tally of 27.75 points.

Punjab’s gymnasts also excelled in the presence of professional teams of Railways and Police and are comfortably placed in third position with 24.55 points, however

Railways showed a dismal performance and went behind to Punjab with 23.65 points.

Other placings presently are Punjab “B” team with 22.35 points, NWFP (20.19 points), Sindh (19.55 points) and Police 14.20

Sunday is the last day of the two-day national championship.
