KARACHI, Oct 4: Two persons committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance in separate incidents on Monday. Police said that an 18-year-old girl consumed some poisonous substance on late Sunday night in Korangi.

Meherunisa, a resident of Noorani Basti, was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where she died during treatment, the police added.Police could not ascertain the motive behind the suicide.

In another incident, a 16-year-old boy committed suicide in Punjab Colony on late Sunday night. Police said that the boy, Obaidullah, was scolded by his parents over some minor issue. Later, the teenager hanged himself from a ceiling fan in his room. His body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.

SHOT DEAD: A transporter was shot dead, and his associate was injured when unknown persons opened fire at them in Nazimabad in the jurisdiction of Shamim Shaheed police post on Monday evening.

The police said that Munnawar, 40, was going along with his friend Aslam on a scooter, when unknown men on a motorcycle opened fire at them near the bus stop of Nazimabad No.2.

Both the injured were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where Munnawar was pronounced dead on arrival, while Aslam was provided treatment. Following the incident, enraged people of the area started pelting stones at the passing vehicles.

KILLED: A young man was killed by unknown persons near Al-Asif Square on Monday. Police said that the body of 28-year-old Mohammad Moosa was found near a restaurant, where he used to work.

The police said that the victim had bullet wound in his head. They suspected some personal enmity as a possible motive behind the killing. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination. The victim was a resident of Al-Asif Square and hailed from Waziristan.
