KARACHI, Oct 1: Consul-General of People's Republic of China in Karachi Sun Chun Ye on Friday praising Pakistani citizens and their skills said more than 500 students were studying different subjects in China.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of an Inter-School China Quiz Competition, organized by the Pak-China Citizen Association here at a local hotel to celebrate 55th Independence Day of the People's Republic of China, he said China proved a time-tested friend of Pakistan.

Quiz competition is a unique way of acquiring general knowledge about China and this must be held on a regular basis. Pakistan-China friendship is strengthening with each passing day and both the countries have good partnership even in 21st century," he said and urged the Pakistanis to travel to China through Air China and observe the friendship of Chinese.

Sindh Minister for Culture, Tourism & Social Welfare Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani expressed his gratitude to Chinese citizens on their independence day and appreciated the PCCA for organizing a quiz competition.

He said such programmes were a good effort to bring people of both the countries closer to each other. "Students should work hard with more motivation to lead Pakistan towards prosperity and all segments of life should also play their role by using Pakistan-made products," he added.

Chairman, PCCA Zahid Qamar, Consul Cultural Gu Hongxing and Country Manager of Air China Liu Zhenjing also spoke. Mr Shabbir Qaimkhani distributed prizes and certificates among position-holders.

Hurma, Sidra Mairaj and Mohammad Wajahat grabbed first, second and third positions, respectively, while Mohammad Danial received a special gift for being the youngest participant of the quiz competition. -PPI
