VEHARI, Sept 30: Nine people, including six children, sustained injuries as fireworks exploded here on Wednesday night at Raitwali village.

Reports said Muhammad Akbar, Javed Iqbal and Muhammad Arshad were preparing crackers and other fireworks for Shab-i-Barat.

Suddenly the material caught fire and a big explosion took place injuring Akbar, Javed Iqbal and Arshad along with six children who were standing near them. The condition of four children identified as Iqbal, Saforan, Nyla and Waseem was stated to be serious.

Meanwhile, citizens have demanded of the district administration to take action against the people involved in this illegal business. They alleged that police and some officials of the district administration received bribe from the fireworks manufacturers.
