THATTA, Sept 30: The district council in an emergency meeting on Thursday passed a resolution urging Gen Pervez Musharraf to continue holding the post of army chief together with the presidency.

Haji Shaukat Malkani presided over the session. Karampur union council Nazim Abdul Aziz tabled the motion supporting the president of the country in uniform. He lauded the economic achievements and the foreign policy of the Gen Musharraf. The resolution was passed with a clear majority. The council through another resolution offered condolence on the death of Syed Imdad Mohammad Shah.

BD ENVOY: The deputy high commissioner of Bangladesh, Mr Abdul Hanan, arrived here on Thursday on a two-day visit to the district. He called on District Nazim Shafqat Shah Shirazi and discussed matters of mutual interest.

The nazim told the envoy about the devolution plan, heritage of the district and development schemes being carried out in the district. The Bangladesh envoy, Mr Abdul Hanan, visited the ancient city of Bhambhore and the Haleji Lake.
