LAHORE, Sept 30: Three members of a family and a servant were shot dead over a family dispute at Inayat Park in Shahdara on Thursday.

Police said a minor boy and a woman also got critical injuries in the attack, and they identified two of the six attackers as real bothers of the family head.

Those died included Muhammad Ehsan, 55, his second wife Gurya, 22, his brother-in-law Sajid Ali, 26, and the servant, Ghulam Murtaza, 20. Ehsan, a resident of Atawa village in Gujranwala, arrived Lahore four years ago.

He had a property dispute with his brothers Ali and Imran, the police said quoting the injured persons, who included Ehsan's first wife Tahira, 37, and their son Rizwan, 10.

The six assailants first had a meeting with the family head in his drawing room, and later they bandied words over the property dispute. The visitors overpowered Ehsan and asked him to hand them over his pistol. They got hold of the pistol and opened fire at the family members after playing loud music, so that the neighbours could not hear the gunshots.

The attackers escaped after bolting the house from outside. Ms Tahira, who sustained critical wounds, managed to go to the rooftop and raised her arms for help. Neighbours on seeing her called out the police.

The police broke open the house. They found the four people lying dead in a pool of blood. Ms Tahira and Rizwan were immediately rushed to the Mayo Hospital where their condition was stated to be precarious.
