TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 29: Javed Farooqi, the elder brother of deceased Amjad Farooqi, failed even on the third consecutive day on Wednesday to contact senior government officials to request for the custody of his brother's body.

Amjad, an alleged mastermind behind two attempts on the life of President Gen Pervez Musharraf, was shot in an 'encounter' with police in Nawabshah on Sunday.

Javed told newsmen that he got recorded on Wednesday his request on the cell of Federal Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao, but to no avail. Denying a news item published in various Urdu dailies, he said his father was in a shock and was unable to talk to newsmen.

CASE: On the order of District and Sessions Judge Sardar Ahmad Chaudhry, Chuttiana police on Wednesday registered a case against Faisalabad PTCL SDO Zahid Naseem, supervisor Javed Iqbal, former Toba PTCL SDO Nazir Ahmad and their five accomplices for allegedly trying to occupy farmland owned by a local PTCL supervisor.

According to a police report, the accused arrived at Chak 347-GB by a car and a tractor to occupy land and, on resistance, attacked and injured the tenant of landowner Tariq.
