PTI plans drive for democracy

Published September 27, 2004

ISLAMABAD, Sept 26: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said his party will launch a nation wide public mobilization campaign aimed at restoring 'full democracy' in the country.

Speaking at a press conference at the end of a convention of the party here on Sunday, Mr Khan said the campaign would also aim to end military operations in the tribal areas and eliminate military's role in politics.

"Our campaign will also demand fresh elections under a neutral national caretaker government supervised by a completely independent election commission culminating in complete transfer of power to the elected representatives of the people," he said.
