KARACHI, Sept 26: People from different walks of life hailed the orders regarding ban on fire works, crackers and other explosive materials.
Social workers, students, religious scholars while expressing gratitude over the notice taken by Chief Secretary Aslam Sanjrani and IGP Kamal Shah hoped that these would also be implemented in letter and spirit by the sub-ordinate officials particularly Station House Officers.
At the same time, they regretted that despite imposition of Section 144 under which the sale and stock of fire crackers and other explosive materials were banned, these items were not only smuggled into Pakistan but also being sold openly.
People complained that fire crackers were being sold and available even at small shops in many localities of Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulistan-i-Jauhar and some other towns.
People also urged City Nazim Naimatullah Khan to mobilize town administrations to check the menace. They also requested the IGP to order inquiry against the police officials, involved or ignoring orders. -APP
