KARACHI, Sept 26: The Sindh Minister for Youth Affairs and Culture, Qamar Mansoor, has urged for inculcating the spirit of competition among students so they learn to strive hard and achieve their goals.

Addressing as the chief guest at an English speech contest, organized by the Radio Pakistan, he said that undoubtedly Urdu is our national language but learning English is also vital for our youth.

He said that differences created by government schools and private English medium schools also needed to be brought to an end. It was because of this difference that students of government schools were victims of no confidence, he observed.

Quoting examples of leaders of the freedom movement like Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar, he said they mastered the English language. They used the language to the advantage of Muslims.

Development and prosperity was not linked to implementation or enforcement of a language but was related to hard work, research and the quest to learn.

Others who addressed the occasion included former VC, University of Karachi, Dr Abdul Wahab, Producer Atiya and Station Director Nisar Memon. Later, Mr Mansoor distributed certificates and prizes amongst winners. - APP
