KARACHI, Sept 24: Judge Aley Maqbool Rizvi of ATC-I fixed Sept 30 for indictment against two activists of banned Sipah-i- Sahaba Pakistan in prisoners' van attack case.
The matter was earlier fixed for Friday for indictment against Mohammad Muzamil and Malik Tassaduq, but, it was deferred and court fixed Sept 30 for framing charges against the accused, defence counsel Maqboolur Rehman said. The accused were earlier declared absconders in the case.
Three activists of Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan Muhammad Faisal, Sabir Ali Waseem and Mazharul Hassan are already charged for their alleged involvement in attack on prisoners' van, carrying some sectarian activists for their release, near Bohra Pir area in limits of Nabi Bux police station on Feb 28, 2002. Two people, including a police constable Shakeel, were killed and around 11 people were injured in the attack.
HEARING ADJOURNED: Judge Feroz Mehmood Bhatti of anti- terrorism court adjourned the hearing of killing case against Amir Khan, general-secretary of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi), and others due to non-appearance of defence counsel on Friday.
The court was requested for adjournment by Amir's counsel Khawaja Naveed Ahmed. Amir Khan and an activist of MQM-H Muhammad Tariq are being tried on charge of killing two activists of their rival group Muttahida Qaumi Movement on June 23, 2003. -PPI
