WANA, Sept 22: A paramilitary soldier and a tribesman were killed and two people wounded on Wednesday when militants attacked an outpost in the troubled South Waziristan tribal region, officials and residents said.
The officials said that the militants attacked the paramilitary post on a hilltop in the Kaniguram area of the Laddah sub-division. During the attack, one soldier was killed while another received injuries.
The security forces retaliated with artillery fire from Laddah Fort and Asman Manza base camp which lasted more than two hours.
Residents said that during the exchange of heavy fire, one tribesman was killed, while a minor girl was injured. The body, lying at the Laddah Fort, has yet to be identified. The minor girl has been shifted to local hospital with multiple injuries.
