KARACHI, Sept 22: The Vice Chancellor of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Dr. A. K. Q. Rajput, said his team would visit the Dawood College of Engineering and Technology in January next in connection with extension of affiliation to the college.

Talking to newsmen at the University of Karachi after a meeting of varsities' vice-chancellors the other day, Dr Rajput said that as a special case, the MUET had granted affiliation to the DCET a couple of years back under the directives of the Sindh governor.

The affiliation was granted on a yearly basis and the affiliation team of his university would be visiting the DCET in January again, he said, adding that during the last inspection, the affiliation team had pointed out certain shortcomings with regard to academic facilities, which were required to be overcome by the college before the next meeting.

To a question, he said the university had nothing to do directly with administrative affairs of the college or the ongoing agitation by its students. Dr Rajput also said that the varsity would certainly ensure the fulfilment of attendance criteria of students before the next examination at DCET.
