QUETTA, Sept 21: The Progressive Group of businessmen and traders has swept the annual elections of the Balochistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).
The group, headed by Senior Vice-President of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sardar Mohammad Ali Jogezai, won all the eight seats of the executive committee with a big margin.
The recently-formed Business Progressive Alliance, led by leading importer and exporter Senator Wali Mohammad Badeni, could not inspire the business community and failed to win even single seat of the executive committee of the BCCI.
According to results announced by the election committee here on Tuesday, Sardar Mohammad Ali Jogezai bagged highest votes i.e. 758, Mumtaz Paracha 754, Amjad Ali Siddique 751, Malik Abdul Rehman Khilji 743, Chaudhary Amjad Ali 741, Mohammad Sadiq Kakar 729, Abdul Salam Saraf 728 and Naiz Mohammad Khan Nano 725.
According to the results, 1,262 members of the BCCI cast their vote. Two votes were cancelled while 10 were rejected. The election for the new BCCI president will be held next week.
