Qazi hopeful of ARD backing on uniform

SIALKOT, Sept 19: JI Amir Qazi Husain Ahmad has said that the MMA is in close contact with the ARD leadership asking it to shun political differences and join the Majlis over the uniform issue.

Addressing a press conference at a local hotel here on Saturday, he hoped that the alliance would join the MMA's anti-government movement as it was high time for the opposition to be united against the government for pressing President Gen Pervez Musharraf to step down as COAS.

Criticizing the Wana operation, Qazi urged the government to take the nation into confidence in this regard as it would threaten the stability of the country. He asked the government to empower the parliament to make all national and foreign policies in the larger national interest.

He urged the Ummah to face the anti-Muslim conspiracies and challenges with courage, patience and bravery. Qazi expressed the apprehension that the US wanted to solve the Kashmir issue according to the wishes of India and that must be a matter of great concern for the whole Pakistani nation.

The JI Amir said the MMA had prepared a new political strategy to meet the national and political challenges. He said the Jamaat had always struggled for the betterment of the nation and solidarity of the country without compromising over its principles with the governments. Qazi vowed to continue struggle till return of the army to barracks in the larger national interest.
