KARACHI, Sept 19: Acting City Nazim Tariq Hasan has warned all city government officers, assigned the task of supervising development projects, against negligence, lethargy and resorting to unfair practices.

"Any officer found showing negligence or carelessness in prompt completion of development projects and perfect work would be made accountable and would not go unpunished," he said during his visit to the sites of different city government projects, including the FTC and Shahrah-i-Quaideen flyovers, 2,000 Road Korangi, Sibghatullah Shah Road and Habib Ebrahim Rehmatoola Road, on Sunday to review the pace and quality of work.

EDO Works Shoaib Siddiqui and other senior officials of the city government also accompanied the Mr Hasan. The acting nazim was briefed about the projects with the help of designs and graphs.

He said all scheme should be executed as per the international standards and technical principles. The companies ignoring these factors or not meeting the deadlines for their projects would be black-listed because no one could be allowed to put human lives at risk, he declared.

Tariq Hasan said that he would keep visiting the project sites, and impressed upon the concerned officials to discharge their duties in a responsible and efficient manner. Negligence or shortcomings on their part would not be tolerated, he added. -APP
