KASUR, Sept 17: Raiwind police on Friday registered a case against 17 people, including two union council Nazims and PPP ticket holder from NA-138, for allegedly killing a PML supporter during by election for the slot of Kot Radha Kishan UC Naib Nazim. The polling took place on Thursday.

Zaffar key UC Naib Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal told police that during the process of voting, the daughter-in-law of MNA Sardar Tufail Ahmad Khan quarrelled with the wife of UC 15 Nazim Rao Shamshad Ahmad Khan over a petty matter.

Later, Rao Shamshad, UC Nazim Tanveer Joiya of Sidhupura, NA-138 ticket holder Malik Akhtar Husain Naul, his brother Khurram Naul and their armed men visited the polling station and opened indiscriminate fire on their opponents.

PML supporter Muhammad Iqbal alias Bali was shot dead while five persons of both the groups were injured. They were shifted to the Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. UC No 15 Nazim's brothers Rao Riaz and Rao Muhammad Arif were also accused in this case.

When contacted, DPO Mian Ghulam Muhammad Kalyar told this correspondent that no arrest had been made so far because all the suspects were at large. Two special police raiding teams have been constituted to arrest the suspects.
