HYDERABAD, Sept 17: The City Taluka Council here on Friday decided to persuade relevant defence authorities to hand over possession of the kutchi abadis situated on defence land which belong to the taluka municipal administration.

The decision was the follow-up of a report submitted by a six-member committee appointed by the council in March, following a resolution tabled by Abdul Hameed and seconded by Haji Qamaruddin Sheikh.

The committee, deliberating over the issue, went through a resolution of the defunct Hyderabad municipal corporation adopted in May 1987, resolving to demarcate the HCB and the TMA at the Sarfaraz road, adjacent to Millat Islamia colony.

It decided to include Shah Faisal and Mumtaz colonies, and part of Gharibabad colony in the jurisdiction of the TMA city for subsequent transfer to the TMA. A previous study prepared by the Bureau of Kutchi Abadis also included the kutchi abadis of Latifabad spread over 406 acres, but following the devolution system, Shah Faisal, Mumtaz, Pathan and Gharibabad colonies became part of the TMA.

Of these, Shah Faisal and Mumtaz colonies are on defence land, whereas Gharibabad colony and land of the defunct HMC are being regularized under the colony scheme. The committee also endorsed the decision of the defunct HMC regarding the demarcation point of the TMA and the HCB.

Another resolution tabled by Mr Hameed was also adopted unanimously, under which some 12 roads in union council-3 would be named after notables who rendered services for the country as well as for the said area.
