KARACHI, Sept 17: The position holders of the HSC Humanities Part-II annual examination of special candidates, their parents and teachers, have demanded the government to ensure better job opportunities for the students.

Speaking at a function of the Board of Intermediate Education, held for declaration of different examination results, including that of special students, they observed that the deaf and dumb students too were taking keen interest in education, and despite their physical constraints, they were securing good marks in examinations.

However, they deplored the apathy of the society as well as that of the government towards such students, which frustrated them. The students were of the view that not only the system of education, textbooks and credibility of their examinations should be ensured, but the government and private organizations should allocate more jobs for special persons.

The government should enhance the job quota for special peoples and ensure a strict implementation of the same. During the interviews of position-holding students through their interpreters, it was pointed out that the courses of study and pattern of examinations for these students were prepared with the cooperation of the educational institutions of the special students, associations of special people and some experts of national repute in special education. It was also demanded by the teachers and students that a separate educational board for special students be established.

According to the BIE results of special students, as many as 68 candidates, including 34 girls, from three institutions, appeared in the HSC part-II examinations, out of which 65 were declared pass and as such their pass percentage was 95.59, which was five per cent higher than that of the last year.

The breakdown of successful candidates is as follows: Out of the candidates, who appeared from The Idarieu School and College for Blind and Deaf, five students secured A-1 grade, 4 got A grade, 9- B grade, 5- C grade, and two candidates secured D grade.

The Dewa Higher Secondary School: A-1 grade (6), A grade (9) and B grade (3). The Absa Higher Secondary School for Deaf: A-1 grade (16) and A grade (6). Nazia Qaiser, seat no 44363, of the Dewa HS School, who bagged first position, praised the support of her parents and teachers at the school in connection with her education. She expressed her satisfaction over her performance in the examination and mentioned that she would do job after completing her degree class education.

Asma Noor, seat no 44382, of the Absa H S School, said that course was not very difficult. She was also teaching her juniors at the school. Syed Mohammad Bilal, seat no 28014, of the Idarieu College, pointed out that his teachers used to encourage him to work hard for securing a position in the examination. He mentioned that he wanted to do his masters in computer studies.
