LAHORE, Sept 16: The University of Health Sciences and St George's Hospital Medical School, London, have agreed to collaborate in academic pursuits and research.

A Memorandum of Understanding will be signed by the authorities of both institutions in the near future.

As a part of this process, St George's Prof Hamid Ghodse met UHS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Malik Husain Mubbashar here on Thursday. During his stay in Pakistan, Prof Ghodse, who is also director international affairs of Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK, and chairman of International Narcotics Control Board, will negotiate the terms of the agreement.

The purpose of the MoU will be to establish a framework for collaboration between the two institutions, which will provide the basis for an exchange of teaching material, staff, students and development ideas for undergraduate and postgraduate training courses for the mutual benefit.

The framework of the collaboration will include educational and training activities, research collaboration, and consultancy. Both the institutions will provide each other with advice and assistance, including support with the development of curriculum and teaching materials.

The MoU will also create opportunities to develop a range of educational and training courses. The agreement will also envisage a programme of exchange for students and research staff. It will also envisage exchange of examiners, which will provide an opportunity for understanding the education and evaluation system of both institutions.

According to the university spokesman, Prof Ghodse also took a round of the university and appreciated functioning of different departments. He also found the university's evaluation system quite foolproof.

BDS RESULTS: The University of Health Sciences on Thursday declared the results of BDS second professional annual examinations, 2004, of the candidates of the de'Montmorency College of Dentistry, Lahore, and the Nishtar Medical College, Multan. The examinations were held in July and August this year.
