SWABI: Science Marathon at GIK Institute

SWABI, Sept 14: A 'Science Marathon', was held at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology on Tuesday. The event was organized by the Science Society of the institute in which 30 teams from various disciplines of engineering sciences participated.

The adviser of science society, Dr Ibrahim Qazi, said that the basic idea was to introduce the attractive side of mathematical sciences and work for the creation of a congenial environment where the students take great interest in various disciplines of engineering sciences.

The coordinator of the society, Umar Shafai Rao, said that such contests would be organized each year and the students of computer science, mechanical engineering, engineering sciences, electronic engineering and metallurgy and materials engineering would be encouraged to participate in the event.

The participating teams ran from point (destination) to point and solved the tricky mathematical problems for moving to their next destination. The winning team comprised Muzzamil Ahmed, Shafaq Rafiq, Omer Gulzar and Shakir Hussain of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering. The second position was grabbed by Hasnain Jamil, Junaid Lashari and M. Omer.
