AJK CJ dies

MUZAFFARABAD, Sept 13: The Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court, Mr Justice Muhammad Yunus Surakhvi, died of cardiac arrest in the southern AJK city of Mirpur on Monday. He was 62.

The CJ suffered a severe heart attack while delivering a speech at a reception hosted by the District Bar Association Mirpur at a local hall in honour of the newly-appointed High Court Chief Justice Reaz Akhtar Chaudhry, the apex court's additional registrar Idrees Mughal told Dawn by telephone from Mirpur.

The funeral prayers and burial would be held in Surakhi village on Tuesday afternoon. A holiday has been declared in the courts of Azad Kashmir on Tuesday.
