Javed Hashmi's family submits replies

LAHORE, Sept 13: All the 10 close relatives of Alliance for Restoration of Democracy President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi on Monday submitted to an accountability court replies to the allegation levelled in a reference against the MNA from Multan.

The court adjourned further hearing of the reference till Sept 18. Mr Hashmi's wife, six daughters, a son-in-law and two brothers are alleged to be beneficiary in one way or the other of assets valuing about Rs38 million, which the political leader is accused of acquiring with ill-gotten money amassed between 1991 and 1999 by misusing his official authority.

Advocate Malik Manzoor Ahmad presented the replies as the counsel of the PML-N acting president, now serving 23-year imprisonment in a sedition case at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

TRANSFERRED: The Lahore High Court Chief Justice has transferred 10 additional district and sessions judges. According to a notification issued here on Monday, Lahore AD&SJ Peer Mohammad has been transferred to Nankana in place of Alamgir Khan who has been posted at Minchinabad.

Jampur AD&SJ Abdus Sattar has been posted at Khanpur, swapping his post with Abdul Noor Nasir. Minchinabad AD&SJ Mohammad Islam has been transferred to Bhalwal, and Mr Arshad Javed Mir from Bhalwal to Lahore.

Attock AD&SJ Tahir Sabir has been transferred to Wazirabad and Syed Auon Mohammad Razvi from Liaquatpur to Muzaffargarh from where Mohammad Ali Rana has been posted at Chiniot. Chiniot AD&SJ Shaukat Mahmood, who has been suspended from service, has been made an OSD. Meanwhile, Multan civil judge Mohammad Tariq has also been made an OSD.
