Robber, cop injured in shootout

DADU, Oct 27: A police constable and a robber were injured in exchange of fire when a group of robbers blocked road and attempted to kidnap a man at Mehar bypass some 2 kilometres away from Mehar late on Friday night.

A group of highwaymen blocked Mehar bypass and robbed travellers of their valuables and attempted to kidnap Mohammad Juman.

As he raised hue and cry, two constables of the Mehar bypass police picket arrived on the spot.

When the robbers saw the police they opened fire on them, which was returned by the policemen.

As a result of exchange of fire for half an hour, a constable Ghulam Hyder Gaincho and a robber were injured seriously.

Meanwhile, a police party of the Mehar police arrived on the spot, cordoned off the area and arrested the injured robber Akhtar Ilyas Khoso, resident of Hasil Khoso village of taluka Mehar, and recovered one TT pistol from his possession while his accomplices escaped.

The injured constable was taken to CMC hospital Larkana.

Mehar police registered two separate FIRs against robbers Qasim Kalhoro, Noor Mohammad and Akhtar Ilyas Khoso.
