ISLAMABAD, May 23: The European Union Commissioner for External Relations, Chris Patten, called on President Gen Pervez Musharraf here on Thursday.

The president briefed Patten on Pakistan’s policy of maximum restraint and reiterated Pakistan’s position for the settlement of all disputes with India, including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir, through negotiations.

The EU Commissioner was also briefed on the ongoing process relating to the restoration of democracy in Pakistan.

Patten, who arrived here on May 21 on a three-day visit, also held talks with Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar earlier in the day. —-APP
