PESHAWAR, Sept 8: Senior NWFP Minister Sirajul Haq announced on Wednesday that the Jamaat-i-Islami would organize an international conference at Lahore next month to apprise people of challenges facing the Muslim world.

Speaking at a press conference, the senior minister expressed concern over the damage caused to holy places in Iraq, particularly the shrine of Hazrat Ali (RA). Mr Haq, who is also provincial amir of the Jamaat, said the conference would be held at Minar-i-Pakistan from Oct 1 to Oct 3 and added that representatives from various Muslim countries would participants in it.

The conference would appeal to the leaders of the Muslim world to unite aimed at improving the lot of the Muslims, he said. Answering a question about the uniform issue, he said as the time for President General Pervez Musharraf to shed his uniform was approaching it seemed as if he was going to change his mind.
