SUKKUR, Sept 6: The Shahbaz Air Base in Jacobabad was placed on high alert when unidentified people threw fire-crackers from the special force ground into the air base on Monday and some bushes caught fire near the tower No 11.

The fire brigade of the air base, brought the fire under control in about half an hour. However, a PAF spokesman in Islamabad said he had no knowledge of any such incident and denied that the base had been put on high alert.

Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations, Maj-Gen Shaukat Sultan, said he was completely unaware of any disturbance at the air base.
