MARDAN, Oct 27: Former federal minister for communication and leader of Awami National (ANP) Azam Khan Hoti has said that the crises in Afghanistan can spill over to neighbouring countries if it were not handled properly.

Hoti, who was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) some two years back on corruption charges, was recently bailed out by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on health grounds.

Talking to Dawn, Hoti expressed his concern that the area was also in crises due to some adventurism, but the recent attacks have multiplied it, which can have an extended impact on this region he disclosed.

He said that about 1,000 Ulema passed a decree in Kabul that Osama bin Laden should leave Afghanistan for the sake of peace, he suggested.

Hoti said that Afghanistan was already devastated by the Soviet forces in the last two decades but now the US and its allies have started bombing the unfortunate country.

He claimed that the only possible solution of the crisis in Afghanistan was that it should be left to the Afghans form a government of their own choice.
