KARACHI, Aug 26: A team of a private TV channel was allegedly manhandled by the officials of the Anti-Narcotics Force on Thursday in Clifton. The reporter and cameraman of the channel came to know about a raid in the See Breeze Centre in Clifton and rushed to the spot.
They introduced themselves to the ANF officials, who forbade them from shooting the scene and roughed them up. Thereafter, the officials whisked them away in their vehicle.
The reporter, Mohammad Bin Yousaf, and cameraman Mehboob Ali alleged they were hand cuffed and lodged in the lock-up of the Mohammad Ali Society police station of the ANF, where they were beaten.
They were released only after the intervention of senior ANF officials. A tape, which was snatched from the cameraman and was returned later, was found to be blank. Later, the ANF Joint Director, Khizar Ilyas, expressed sorrow over the incident and promised to sort out the matter.
