RAJANPUR, Aug 25: The first-ever free medical camp was set up a few days ago here at Chatri in Rajanpur district where around 500 people were provided with medical treatment. Inaugurating the camp, MNA Meena Jafar Leghari said serving the ailing humanity in these far-flung areas was like Jehad.

The camp had been organized by District Officer (Health) Dr Shahnaz Naeem. Comprising over rugged mountains, Chatri is one of the most backward areas of the country. Horses are the only source of transportation.

People live in houses made of stones and husk. In case of serious ailment, the patient is transported in a bedsheet, tied with a club and lifted by four men, which in local parlance is called Tangi. So far as drinking water is concerned, people store rainwater in a pond which is used by animals and human beings.
