QUETTA, Aug 25: Labour unions of the Sui gas fields have demanded that the management should honour the agreements made with them and regularize the services of casual employees.
Speaking separately at press conferences held at the press club on Wednesday, Skilled and Technician Union president Bangul Bugti, P. Plant Casual Labour Union president Nuruddin Bugti and PPL Casual Workers Union president Gulzar Bugti said that labourers would not give up struggle until their demands were accepted.
They said that according to the agreements of 1989 and 2001 the management of companies had agreed to give priority to the people of Dera Bugti while making appointments and the services of the casual labourers would be regularized.
Moreover, they said, it was agreed that a hospital would be build, people of Sui would be provided free gas supply and free education facilities for the children of labourers would be ensured. The union leaders said that 722 casual labour were working in different plants in Sui for the last several years, but none of them were regularized.
BUS STAND: District Coordination Officer and Chairman Transport Authority of Quetta has said that the bus-stand would be shifted from Satellite Town to the new site at Hazarganji by August 28, and no transporter will use the old bus stand or their private terminals in main city after Friday.
In a statement here on Wednesday, the DCO of Quetta said that the cabinet meeting on July 18 decided to shift the bus stand following completion of all basic arrangements at the Hazarganji site.
