RAWALPINDI, May 23: Four unidentified robbers stormed into the Allied Bank’s branch in Dhoke Saidan on Thursday and made off with Rs490,000, police said.

Khalilur Rehman, the bank manager, complained to the police that the four men barged in at about 1pm, overpowered the security guard and snatched his gun. Then they pounced upon the cashier, Shahid Ishaq, and beat him up before collecting the cash. They locked the staffers and clients in the bank before escaping, he added.

Meanwhile, two unidentified armed robbers deprived a chemist of Rs87,000 in Satellite Town, police said.

Nadeem Iqbal, the robbery victim, complained to the New Town police that he was returning home after closing his shop when he found his way blocked by the two men who deprived him of cash at gunpoint and escaped.

In yet another incident, Rahat Mehmood’s car (U-5762) was stolen from Chaklala Housing Scheme-III, police said.
