SAHIWAL, Aug 23: On the appeal of the Punjab JUI-F amir, a rally was taken out here on Monday to condemn the murder of Qari Noor Muhammad. The procession was led by JUI-F district amir Mufti Muhammad Usman, secretary Abdul Razzaq Mujahid and central council member Iftikhar Ahmed Haqani.

The processionists marched from the GT Road to Jogi Chowk where the participants were addressed by Hafiz Tariq, Pir Aneesur Rehman, Qari Tahir Rashidi and Mufti Muhammad Usman.

The speakers demanded the dismissal of the interior minister and the registration of a murder case against him. They also called upon the government to end raids on madaris.

HOUSE LOOTED: Eight masked bandits on Sunday night looted the house of an expatriate in Chak 112/9-L. Armed bandits entered the house of Yousaf Harni, held the inmates hostage, scooped Rs0.5 million in cash and ornaments worth Rs0.6 million and escaped. The intruders remained present in the house for some three hours.

This was the second dacoity occurred at the house of UK-returned Yousaf within three months. Earlier, the armed bandits had looted valuables worth Rs1.3 million besides taking away a Pajero. Dera Rahim police have registered a case.

FLOOD: Owing to heavy rains, a medium-size flood in River Ravi on Monday damaged standing crops in Noor Shah village, some 15kms from here. Meanwhile, the residents of Mulla Hamza Sharif, Dad Baloch and other localities have been alerted by the department concerned. They have been asked to shift to safer places.
